First of all, be sure the volume is down fairly low so that you don’t blow the speakers or the unit itself if and when the sound suddenly comes back.

Can someone explain what Board is bad and what chip needs replaced?

Hi,
Wanted to check if there is a Onkyo Service center in the UAE asmy TX-NR609, the audio goes off and then if switched on after a few days, plays again and then goes if switched off.

UPDATE: They’ve added a dedicated web page for processing this particular error. Just put in your serial number and it’ll walk you through how to send it in for repair, free of charge.

Just happened to me yesterday with my Onkyo TX-NR509. This is the dreaded Loss of Audio/Network Connection issue that effects receivers manufactured between 2009 and 2012. You’ll need to go on the Onkyo site, customer care and if your receiver qualifies they will send you a prepaid box and label that they will provide at no cost to you. Of course you’ll need to wait 7-10 days for the shipping box and another 2-3 weeks for it to be repaired and returned. So for the next 4-6 weeks I’ll be without my surround sound system, this sucks.

I have Onkyo TX-NR609 I own this for just 6 months its the best receiver i had,but one day the sounds just stopped suddenly even the usb always saying initializing,but theres a video when i connect it on my ps3 watching netflix, does anyone can help how can i fix it or whats the problem?i will appreciate it.thanks!

I had the same problem this Summer with my TX-NR 609. Even though I purchased it in 2011 they stepped up and repaired the failed HDMI board and paid freight both ways. Works great.
Kudos to ONKYO for standing behind their product with a known failing part. Car companies could learn a lesson.

Thanks for the information. I used the website you referenced and submitted my claim. I own the TX-NR609 and have lost all sound as well as the Network and Firmware updates under 7. Hardware Setup are greyed out and I cannot access them. I hope to hear from Onyko soon.
